What I like about this thread is the burning passion we are all feeling right about now towards possibly winning another Super Bowl. It's great to be in this position.

I think what Diehard is reiterating in his own mind is this ... because our defense is so good this year, why waste this chance on another Lombardi by starting a QB who seems to be mistake-prone the past few weeks and also is very likely less than 100%? His argument is simply that we're good enough to win the Lombardi with our defense, so take the "conservative means" to that trophy with our offensive approach by starting the healthier player (Leftwich) ... who Diehard feels at the very least is a good enough QB to get it done, and at the most could be a better option than a Big Ben who has played poorly down the stretch.

But the rest of us recognize that Big Ben is likely the key cog in our Lombardi motor. Ben has the experience, the requisite toughness, and a pro history of succeeding in the face of this type of post-season adversity.

In fairness Diehard, the written word allows for ample interpretation time. Your written words about Ben clearly wreak of inflamation towards our "$100 Million" QB. Below the surface it seems you are not happy with how Ben has played in comparison to what he is being paid. It comes across that you feel Ben is not the one offering our best chance to win a Lombardi, but rather Leftwich is.

There are way many more around here who don't share that sentiment. When Ben is on, he is one of the best QB's in the league. When Ben is on, the mistakes are few and far between and his accuracy can be remarkable. When Ben is on the Steelers become a tough team to beat. When Ben is off, we are still in most games anyways and usually have a chance to pull them out in the end.

Ben is most likely going to be starting and finishing every game we play this post-season. He has earned that right and most of us fans feel he gives us our best chances. We all literally will be living and dying (if necessary) with Ben Roethlisberger this post-season.

I hate threads like this one. Threads like this become like poison! Please don't use this forum as a merciless "see I told you so" venue should Ben Roethliberger fail to get it done for our team over the next few weeks.
