CNN) -- Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair taped a youth suicide prevention public service announcement before he was fatally shot in a murder-suicide, Tennessee health officials said.
Steve McNair, 36, spent 13 seasons in the NFL, the majority with the Tennessee Titans.
The Tennessee health
officials were "developing a PSA with Steve McNair, but it never reached the point of being aired. And it seems broadcasting it now is not only
inappropriate, but doesn't serve the community, his family or memory -- or the issue we hoped the PSA would help address," said Jill Hudson, a
spokeswoman for Tennessee's Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities.
Authorities have said that McNair was fatally shot by his mistress, who then killed herself. McNair was married and had four children.
The bodies of McNair, 36, and Sahel Kazemi, 20, were found in a condominium on Saturday afternoon in downtown Nashville, authorities said.
